Hello and welcome back to the Wick for what promises to be another great season – here’s a quick summary of how week 1 went and what’s planned for the coming week(s)…

Match results and reports

U10s convincingly beat Twickenham in friendly!
Despite the conditions – freezing cold wind and a smattering of rain, the U10s ran out comfortable winners in this early season friendly! An enjoyable game with some good contributions from everyone. Looking forward to the league games now!

U11s knocked out of the Middlesex CUP in close encounter
The U11s played Hampton Hill in a cup game that went down to the penultimate over, with our rivals from the other side of Bushy Park ultimately winning by 5 wickets. The Wick recovered from 0-1 to post a total of 110-2. Well done Jack Dowling and Charlie McLauchlan who both retired when they reached 30. On the bowling side, Will Hardy took two wickets in two balls but was denied a hat-trick by some stubborn blocking. And there was also some great fielding— particularly from Neel Mohindra who bravely put his body on the line to save a certain boundary. Report provided by Jack Dowling.

U12s reach the next round of the CUP
The U12s beat Hampton Hill by 18 runs to progress to the next round of the Middlesex cup. The Wick won the toss and opted to bat, scoring136-5 off their 20 overs – the innings was held together by Ralph Higgins (41) and Ryder Emmerson (28). The Wick’s U12s restricted Hampton Hill to 118-6 – a special mention goes to Marley Crosby for taking his first competitive wicket.

The U12s Development team went down on in a friendly match Sunday morning to an impressive Indian Gymkhana team. A special mention goes to Hamzah Malik who picked up 3 wickets!

Barnes beat HWRCC U13s by 8 wickets
Despite an impressive unbeaten 41 by Jivraj Singh, the U13s couldn’t overcome a strong Barnes team in their first Mid-Surrey match.

U15s enjoyed a big win in Mid-Surrey opener!
After winning the toss and electing to bat the U15s reached 185-8 off their 24 overs, with Connor Hewitt scoring an unbeaten 50 and Asvethram Vijayakumar scoring 39. Long Ditton were never in contention and reached 68-9, with Sam Palmer returning excellent figures of 4-1-15-3.
